We are looking for an Optical Systems Embedded Software Engineer who will be responsible for the design, development, production, testing, and maintenance of Atlas payloads. This role will broadly interact with all aspects of module design, testing, and calibration.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Specify, design, and implement the functions and behaviors of embedded subsystems
Develop high-quality C/C++ code in a real-time embedded environment
Develop software tests and collaborate with verification teams
Participate in hands-on hardware bring-up, system debugging, and code optimization
Contribute to software architecture, design, and code reviews
Document your software designs
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
BS/MS or higher in Physics, Optical Engineering, or a related discipline
At least 3 years of experience in embedded software design
Knowledge of software development and software standards
C/C++ programming languages
Technical English writing and the reading ability for research and documentation
Experience in transferring designs into manufacturing
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Strong background in optics and optomechanical systems
Well-versed in the factors affecting optical resolution, dynamic range, optical noise, and optical instrument performance
Design validation experience including tolerance analysis and test fixturing
Knowledge of applications using ARM architecture microcontroller and/or FPGA
Knowledge of spectroscopic techniques and practices is a plus
